Twitter for Teachers? Really?.....

When people first tell you about all the technology out there you kind of scoff at it. I know I was not ready for all of this stuff. How can this help me? Are people really doing this stuff or are they wasting my time AGAIN? Why are they making me look at this stuff? I don’t have the time! CSI is on! What if I don’t want to change? I don’t like change! Leave me alone! You can keep your RSS feeds & PLPs! I don’t want any of it.
As my wife will tell you, of course I was wrong. There is so much great stuff out there. I used to use twitter to follow famous people and post stuff about the other kids/young adults that are fighting cancer. It took me a year to find out that twitter can give you so much information about the field of education. I will still post about childhood cancer & music, but I will also look for information to help me become a better educator. There are so many links to so many different types of information from teachers and organizations. It can make your head hurt if you look at it long enough. But it hurts in a good way since I’m learning. It’s exciting because it can open so many new avenues for me. I will need to sit down and take some time to sift through all of it. It’s amazing how many links have popped up after only two days.  Who knew twitter was part of the new revolution in education?  That’s what I get for being the number one grouchy pants.
