FEELINGS, WO, WO, WO, FEEEEELLLLLIIIIIINGS.....

I used to really hate this song. I think I still do. Not sure though.

The Steelers stink. They lost to the Raiders and Chiefs. I am depressed right now. Not like I used to be in the old days, but I am still unhappy.  Alright, I am not really depressed, its just fun to whine about this type of stuff.  I still think Neil O'Donnell got paid to make Larry Brown look like the greatest cornerback ever in that one Super Bowl.  I have Steelers gear for cheap. Just let me know and I can give you a blog discount. Or I just may decide to keep it.  If I decide to swtich teams, its Lions all the way!  They are bound to be good sometime in the future.  Yeah boy, go James Jones!  He's on my fantasy team!!  College basketball has started to heat up and Syracuse is in the top 10. People are talking like this could be a team like the year they won the Championship. Like my friend B-Train said, “It only matters what happens in March.” So many times Syracuse has messed up a season by March that it makes me want to cheer for Duke to win it all.
I hate the BCS and all it stands for. I love college football. It is second to Cricket as my favorite sport. (It’s not really cricket, since I don’t understand the rules, hopefully that made you laugh. If not, that’s ok too) PLAYOFF PLEASE!! I really don’t care about the Emerald Bowl. You could still have the bowls with a playoff system. Believe me you can have a team in the Chicken Wing Bowl and I still won’t care with or without a playoff unless I get free wings for watching. Please, come up with a playoff system. It would so much more exciting to watch. Every sport known to man has a playoff except college football! They even have poker on TV and you don’t have the best two players in the world face off do you? NO! You have a playoff to see who the best is!!!   I love Tim Tebow!  I've cried at the end of losses as a coach as well.  So what is the big deal?  Because men aren't supposed to cry?  That is not a realistic concept.

I now have 2 followers. That excites me! I’m well on my way to blog of the year. It may take a while to get to 5, but slow and steady wins the race. My goal is to get to 10 followers by 2011. Help me out by telling your friends! I'm trying to win Blogger of the year.

I read Ricky's caring bridge today, http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/ricky3 and it really got me thinking. It is very hard to stay positive about things. It really, really stinks to have to deal with this. Could it be worse? Yes, it could be a lot worse, so we don’t complain a lot to people. I just hate when people try to say,
“It’s going to be ok.” Guess what, it may not be ok. I hope and pray it is going to be ok, but it may not work out in the end. Tell us, "We are praying for you and your family."  or "Here are the keys to a new SUV!"
It’s no one’s fault if it doesn't work out how we all want in the end. Not ours, the doctor’s, or God's.
It’s all cancer’s fault. We don't have much control over the cancer.  I can help with the treatments and help my family make it through.  I don’t worry about the end result anymore. (I really don't have anymore room for gray hair) That was my problem from diagnosis to not too long ago. Worrying about the what ifs doesn't help anyone.  I have to think about what is going on right now at this moment.  I am more focused on the process. I have to figure out what positive things are going to come out of this situation. I can't do it alone so I will need a lot of help from God. Just a sample of some of the positives so far:
1. Cancer advocacy. I will continue to go to Reach the Day until my last day's on this Earth.  I guarantee that.
2. Great Friends that we have met through it all.
From the hospital staff to the other parents of Cancer kids. We are a wonderful "club".  Do we want membership into this club?  Heck no, but we stick together in this club.  They are all a great group of people.
3. People. People is such a broad word, so I decided to expound on the concept. Wow! That sentence was like one my friend Laura the English teacher would write! I’m impressed! It amazes how many people have done things for us over the years and don’t expect anything back. Money, gifts, encouragement, and all kinds of things have helped us through the last few years.  It helps when I see someone and they say, "We are thinking about you and praying for your family."  That type of thing helps a lot.  A lot of people don’t know us and still help us. My friends from Weirton, to Bruton, to ODU, to Charlotte, and beyond have helped us in so many ways.  It helps when you know that you have people praying for you.  Last year, the Lower School at HRA raised money for my TNT century ride. I was blown away by how much those kids raised. When Amaya was first diagnosed, lots parents, students, and faculty at HRA helped us with meals and had a bake sale to raise money to help us out. It was simply amazing! So when you are thinking that our society is morally bankrupt, please come & talk to me.  Yes, there are some things that are wrong with society, but when people think you may need their help a lot of them will show up out of nowhere.  They may organize another fundraiser (basketball game) for your family or just pray for you and your family. How can a person not stay positive?  But sometimes we may be having a bad day.  So, if we are grouchy or grumpy on any given day, please understand that something may be happening with us. The same with other people as well. You never know what's going on in someone else's life.  Therefore, I try to keep my complaining and whining to a minimum.  Unless, its fantasy football and I will whine all the time.  Smiles are better than frowns on any day. But sometimes a frown is all we have to give you. So, please don't take it personal.  I still love y'all like a play cousin.  Thank you for your prayers.
