I got stung.....

I hate bees. I have been stung before, and it hurts. I remember when I was on a school field trip when I taught in North Carolina and we were in the woods. I walked over a hole that was full of bees and they stung me. It hurt. I yelled fudge. At the end of the school year, some kids gave me a box of fudge. So, I guess good things come out of bad things sometimes. This weekend I rode with the bees. It hurt. Again. My cycling friend Sharon sent me an invite on Facebook to do a ride with Team Killer Bees. I remember the Bees from when I was riding with TNT a few years back. I had heard from everyone that the Bees are fast, and ride very hard. Their jerseys are intimidating as well. Even though it is very small, the killer bee is scary. Ok, everything is scary to me. I was watching Halloween last night for about the 5000th time. I actually jumped during a not so scary part, and Brenda made me turn the channel since she didn’t want me to kick her while sleeping. Back to my bee story. Well, come to find out the ride was around James City County. James City County has some pretty good hills. They may not seem so bad when driving, but on a bike, they are no fun. It was a little fun when I finished, but while laboring not so much. There are a lot of people getting ready to ride. I see a group of people that are “hardcore” riders. Those are the ones with the really nice bikes and the slick clothes. My bike is kinds nice, but my clothes are not very slick. Wal-Mart, except for my goofy looking shoes and my bright neon jacket. My jacket keeps me warm no matter the temperature so far. The “hardcore” riders ride at an ‘A’ pace, which really means, “Dang! I can’t keep up with them! They are fast!” And they were fast, since I only saw them a couple of times at rest stops along the way. I have had some very hard rides before, and this one is right up there with the hardest of them. Hills, hills, and more hills, and then there were a couple more hills. Was it like Fletcher? No, but since I’m trying to get back into the cycling thing, it was difficult. I did finish the 50 miles in 3 ½ hours. I was tired. My legs are still sore. The best thing about the ride is the fact that the Bees were really nice and didn’t leave me in a ditch somewhere. They treated me well and gave me encouragement as well. It’s good to know that some bees aren’t mean at all. Maybe I can end up being a Bee in the end. You could be a Bee too, but you better bring your big boy or girl britches if you want to ride with them. That’s for sure.

Please, help if you can. The walk is in a week and a half. http://www.curesearchwalk.org/faf/donorReg/donorPledge.asp?ievent=467895&lis=1&kntae467895=6D451B8F546C44FB8CB5002CBF9586C8&supId=336898878

Help.....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E1LREetnVZA&feature=related
I need your help. I need $5 from you. You may be asking, “Why does he need $5?”, or “Why does he need my $5? I ain’t made outta money!”, or “His broke behind don’t have his own $5?” No, I actually don’t have $5, since I didn’t get my allowance for this month but that is beside the point. I need your $5 to help cure childhood cancer. I know the economy is horrible right now. I’m trying to work as many jobs as I can to make some extra cash myself. I was going to give breakdancing classes, but I was told, “Don’t do that, you’ll get jacked up!” and “Who wants to take classes with your old behind?” The classes were only going to be $135.00 an hour. (I’m trying to get an IPAD to help with my swag so don’t hate on the price.) I was told that was too much so I dropped the price to $134.99! It’s a bargain because you also get a Ginsu knife & a booty pop! If you order now, I will double your order! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mA3oRP-qmcM&feature=related
Sorry, I got lost for a second. I know times are tough for a lot of people, but $5 is all we are asking for right now. Most of us spend that each month on apps for our cell phones or while at a drive thru restaurant. Heck it’s cheaper than a coffee and a muffin at Starbucks. If you gave $5 a month for a year, that would be $60.00. I know my overpriced cable bill costs way more than that. By the way, Cox High Speed Internet should be called Cox Turtle Speed Internet. I figure if 100 of my facebook friends give $5, and they tell 1 of their friends that gives us $1000.00. Then, let’s say the 5 people who read my blog give, we have $1025.00. I know people read Amaya’s site (http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/amayarose ),so if 100 of them give $5 that makes $1525.00. They decided to tell one of their friends and we have $2025. That is a great start.

Of course, you can always give more if you would like, but $5 will do. Your $5 could lead to breakthrough that is needed to end childhood cancer. I have seen too many young people die from this wretched disease. Research is the key to solving the puzzle. Maybe the money will help with new drugs that will be used specifically for children and not adults. Please, help if you can. I understand that it is your money and you can do with it as you please. I have no problem with that, but my family and so many others need your help. The government doesn’t do enough, so money from family & friends is needed. I will not be upset if you don’t give, but know I will continue to ask for your help every chance I get. I wouldn’t ask if it wasn’t so important to me and so many others. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5rbMMH8-vR8
